Description
This species of hardwood was introduced in Denmark in the 1860s but is not native to Denmark. The Douglas Fir can be up to 60-75 m high with a diameter of 1.5 – 2 meters. Depending on the age and location of the wood, the color may vary from light brown to slightly red or yellow with darker growth rings and naturally occurring knots. Is easy to work and gets a nice finish. The Douglas Fir is used for floors, moldings and furniture, while large dimensions can be used for ship masts and wind turbines.
